About

Not Me Writing a Newsletter About K-Pop is a blog about k-pop and other music I've discovered. You'll get track recommendations, gifs, and an occasional mini-riff on some strange, funny, or significant part of K-pop fandom.
Oh god, another newsletter
Not a newsletter! A blog. But yeah, if you give me your email address, you'll get all of the above in your inbox every two weeks. Signing up also unlocks the ability to comment, whether or not you sub the email.
Why should I read/subscribe/care?
I am a k-pop late bloomer. I have all the joy, excitement, and desperate need to proselytize of the recently converted (cult member or Herbalife vendor). I want you to have some of that too.
If you are already a fan, especially the kind that, say, keeps a hidden stash of merch in your bedroom while maintaining the front of a responsible Adult Person, then I hope we can be friends here too.
I've written or edited for NPR's Song of the Day, Pitchfork, MTV, Stereogum, Spin, Paper, VH1, and PBS. I worked on playlists at Songza, Google, and YouTube, so I think about music streaming. I dearly love exploring online communities; back in the EMP Pop Conference's early days, I presented a paper called "Bigger Than The Sound: Fan-Created Media and Imagined Communities" about the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' fan-generated "Cheated Hearts" video.
